Here are a few reasons why custom shaped challenge coins are highly preferred indifferent industries. Here is just a sample of custom shape coins we have created over the years

Vehicle Shaped Coins

From patrol boats to battleships, submarines to space shuttles, firetrucks to Ferarri's, just when we've thought we've seen it all something new comes along. Other designs include ambulances, squad cars, stock cars, even a Generals 69' SS Camaro.

Weapon Shape Coins

Although our friends at TSA might not share our same joy with a recent 5" 3D Glock 22 coin, our attention to detail will leave you impressed. AK coins, M15 coins, grenade shaped coins, Seal 2000 shaped coins, 50 caliber bullets - typically on weapon coins one side is a 3D replica, the other a 2D information only: names, identifiers, slogans, emblems.

Building Shaped Coins

Common amongst agencies, departments and universities, we've replicated stadiums, historical landmarks, monuments, even the White House and the Pentagon. With building shaped coins, we typically recommend larger coins, 2.5"+, the larger the coin the more detail we can capture.

Insignia & Emblem Shaped Coins

Very common amongst our brave men & women in the military, also quite common with firefighters and the Maltese cross, Coins shaped as your units or departments emblem is common, yet unique to each unit, no two coins ever end up looking the same.

Miscellaneous Coin Shapes

The honest truth is, anything you can think of can become a custom shaped challenge
coin. Arrowhead coins, Handcuff shaped coins, we've made custom coins in the shape of a Colonel's head and a Lieutenants backside. We've also made several coins in the shape of a beer can or the units favorite bottle of liquid courage.

Design Coin Questions

Q. What's the Difference Between Soft Enamel and Hard Enamel Challenge Coins?

Challenge coins have various processes and types of coins to achieve different design stylings. Simply put, Soft Enamel are textured, with the enamel filled below the metal ridges, while Hard Enamel are smooth, the overfilled enamel polished smooth against the metal. You can have one side of your coin be soft enamel and the other side be hard enamel.

Q. What is the Typical Size of a Challenge Coin?

Challenge coins can come in a variety of sizes and shapes but the most common coin size is 2.0”, followed by 1.75” and then 1.5”. If we have concerns about your selection our team will let you know the optimal size of your coin based on your design.

Q. What Are My Challenge Coins Made From?

The majority of our coins are die struck into brass. Large, custom shaped, or designs with large cutout areas will be cast from a zinc alloy. We made a video that goes into further details here.

Q. Difference Between Die Struck and Die Cast Challenge Coin?

Die struck coins have the designs transferred to a front & back mold, the raw brass being struck by each mold with enough force to transfer both the raised & recessed areas of the design into the brass. Die Cast molds are fit together and molten zinc metal is injected into the die to create the coin blank. You can also read our article in our resources section here!
